The Coaching Contract

Important information for Parents and Carers

The young people who I coach want to define a clear direction of travel NOW. They want a goal that is achievable (even if it’s stretching) and they want to feel confident and enthusiastic about the path they choose. (Even though they may not admit it!) Working with me, they learn how to choose a path that aligns with their personal strengths and passions, so they can commit to it with enthusiasm.

Coaching Designed for Individual Needs
Agreeing on Coaching Terms

My coaching services cater to young individuals, with a focus on building mutual trust through the coaching process. My face to face sessions tend not to take place in a soulless office. When possible, I like to take my clients into the outdoors for our sessions. By working closely with my client (the young person), walking and talking in nature, we can create a supportive and effective coaching experience with long term benefits and tangible results.

This Generation Is Navigating a Different World

The rules have changed.

The career paths that once felt “safe” now feel uncertain, and traditional advice often doesn’t land. On the whole, career ladders no longer apply. I like to describe it more like a career mosaic.

They’re under pressure to succeed, stand out, and somehow figure it all out—all while trying to find meaning and motivation in a noisy, fast-moving world

That’s Where I Come In

I work directly with Gen Z clients to help them:

  • Make sense of their strengths

  • Explore realistic career options

  • Build confidence and clarity about what’s next

No one-size-fits-all answers. Just honest, tailored support—designed to meet them where they are.

It’s practical. It’s challenging. And yes, it’s fun (eventually)

A Calm, Clear Voice in the Chaos

With over 20 years of experience in recruitment and career coaching—and as a parent myself—I understand the emotional weight of this stage for everyone involved.

You want your child to thrive. So do I.

Let’s help them find a direction that suits them, not just the system.

Worried About Your Young Person’s Future?

You’re not alone.

Whether your child is still at school, fresh out of university, or working in a job that doesn’t reflect their potential—you’re likely watching them feel stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed by all the options (and opinions) flying at them.

You want to help, but it’s hard to know what to say—or when to say nothing at all.

Ensuring Trust and Confidentiality

Because my coaching clients are typically young people, it’s usually their parents or carers who contract and pay for my services. This differs from standard coaching arrangements, where the individual receiving the coaching or their employer typically pays the fees. Consequently, it’s essential to agree on the coaching terms with both the client (who I am coaching) and the sponsor (the person paying for the service).

Progress Reporting

I will not report back to the sponsor about the client’s progress without the client’s explicit permission. It will be up to each client to decide how much information they wish to share with their sponsor(s) during the duration of the programme.

End of Programme Report

At the conclusion of the programme, the client and I will work together to jointly compile and submit a full report to the sponsor(s).

Confidentiality

Everything discussed with my clients during coaching sessions remains completely confidential.

This approach ensures clarity, confidentiality and, ultimately, a comprehensive overview of the client’s journey and progress. I can only work with my young coaching clients if mutual trust is established and maintained. This contractual arrangement increases that likelihood.

The End of Programme Report

The contents in the co-authored report will include some (but not necessarily all) of the following elements, depending on the client's needs and direction of travel during the coaching programme:

  • Obstacles identified, particularly mind-set

  • Actions agreed to address these obstacles

  • Strategies for dealing with rejection and building resilience

  • Identification of strengths (skills) and interests

  • Potential career paths

  • Chosen career path and options

  • Pathways to the chosen career

  • Methods for seeking and identifying potential avenues to explore and job search techniques

  • The Applications Process, including:

    • - CV preparation

    • - Cover letter/ supporting statement coaching

    • - LinkedIn profiles and networking

    • - Confidence building and Mind Set

    • - Interview preparation

    • - Preparing for Assessment Centers

    • - Analysing, prioritising and negotiating offers

  • Update on the current situation

  • Ongoing action plan

"I would highly recommend Claire for anyone looking to seek out their career path or even a change in career. She helped me with my application and interview prep where I then went on to get the job and progressed in the job for a further 9 years. She is very helpful and professional. She gave me a good foundation of knowledge which I have used in applications and interviews since and really boosted my confidence. Highly recommend!"
